How much does concrete roof tile weigh per square?
Westlake concrete tile installs at 8.79 to 10.3 lb per sq ft, about 880 to 1,030 lb per square, and Eagle lists 970. Here is what that weight means for loading.
The short answer
A square of installed concrete roof tile (100 square feet) weighs about 880 to 1,030 pounds across the five Westlake profiles in MMJ's published projects, from the July 2026 QAI listing. Eagle Roofing lists 970 pounds for its standard-weight profiles at 88.5 tiles per square, and 720 for its Eaglelite tile.

What does Eagle list per square?
Eagle Roofing Products publishes tiles and weight per 100 square feet, with separate Florida weights for two profiles.

Why does a lighter tile not always mean a lighter roof?
Madera 900 is the lightest piece in the Westlake table at 7.9 lb, yet it installs at 9.6 lb per square foot, heavier than Barcelona 900 or Villa 900. The Madera tile is 13.5 inches long against 16.5 to 17 inches for the others, so a square takes more pieces. Quote and load from the weight per square, not the weight of one tile.
How much tile weight goes on one roof?
Multiply the roof's squares by the profile's weight per square. Across the five Westlake profiles above that is 879 to 1,030 lb a square.

How much does a pallet of roof tile weigh?
Neither the QAI listing nor Eagle's specification page publishes pieces or squares per pallet, so a pallet weight cannot be read from them. Westlake pallets carry a label with the manufacturer's name, the tile profile and an SAP number, and the supplier's release gives the pallet count for the order. Send the profile and the squares or pallet count with the request.
What does the weight mean for loading?
Every square lifted is close to half a ton. The FRSA-TRI Florida High Wind tile manual (7th edition, effective 31 December 2023) says to distribute stacks of tile uniformly, not in concentrated loads, to install temporary battens to help roof loading when conditions warrant, and to protect the underlayment while tile is loaded and stacked. Whether a deck can carry tile is the roofing contractor's and the designer's call.

100 square feet of roof surface. Eagle lists its tile counts and weights per 100 square feet, and QAI's installed weight per square foot times 100 gives the same unit.
How many concrete tiles are in a square?
Eagle lists 88.5 tiles per square for most of its profiles and 88 for Malibu. The QAI listing for Westlake tile gives weight per tile and per square foot, but no count per square.
How much lighter is lightweight concrete tile?
Eagle lists 720 lb per square for the Eaglelite versions of Bel Air, Golden Eagle and Ponderosa, against 970 lb for its standard weight.
Does MMJ need the tile weight to quote a job?
MMJ needs the profile and the squares or pallet count, and the weight follows from those. Tile product, quantity and pallet information are part of every loading review.
